Salvia (salvia miltiorrhiza) is in the Sage family. It is also known as red sage, Chinese sage, tan shen, or danshen. Salvia has been used in China, Japon, the US, and elsewhere mainly for treating cardiovascular disease. It is known to promote blood circulation, and helps to reduce inflammation in blood vessels.
